How to Make Fresh Flowers Last Longer

To ensure maximum freshness, many of our flowers are delivered in a 'bud' form. This allows them to bloom fully in your home and extend their lifespan. Please allow 1-3 days for your buds to open and showcase their full beauty.

Essential Flower Care Tips

1. Start with a Clean Vase

• Remove any plastic or wrapping as soon as possible.
• Trim about half an inch from the stems at an angle to ensure they absorb water effectively.
• Place your flowers in a clean vase filled with room-temperature water.

2. Keep the Water Fresh

• Change the water every 2-3 days to keep bacteria from building up.
• Refill the vase regularly to ensure the stems are always submerged.
• Remove any wilting leaves or petals and trim the stems slightly with each water change.

3. Avoid Sunlight and Heat

• Place your flowers in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, heaters, or other heat sources.
• This slows down the aging process and keeps your flowers fresher for longer.

4. Use Flower Food

• Add a flower food packet to the water to provide essential nutrients.
• Alternatively, make your own flower food:
  • Ingredients: 1 teaspoon sugar, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 1 teaspoon bleach, and 1 quart of warm water.
• Note: Avoid adding flower food to vases with zinnias, sunflowers, or gladioluses, as they thrive better without it.

5. Trim Stems with a Sharp Knife

• Use a sharp knife to cut stems at an angle. This prevents crushing and allows for better water absorption.
• Avoid using scissors, as they can damage the stems.

6. Keep Flowers Away from Harmful Gases

• Do not place flowers near ripening fruits or cigarette smoke. Ethylene gas from fruit and smoke can shorten their lifespan.
